Animal Care Center will be hosting a two-week pediatric spay and neuter clinic
(January 6, 2008)

February 1st-13th Drs. George and Ashley Bowers of the Animal Care Center will be offering their services at a great discount in an effort to help control Franklin County's unwanted pet population. New pet owners will be able to have their new puppies and kittens spayed and neutered for lower cost during this clinic.

Pediatric spay and neutering is s paying and neutering of animals less than 5 months of age. This practice is endorsed by the ASPCA, AVMA, and the NACA.

With the anesthetics available today, more advanced monitoring equipment and surgical techniques, spaying and neutering is safe in animals as young as 8 weeks. In fact, the risks associated with spaying and neutering are the same or lower in young kittens and puppies, as in those 6 months or older. They also recover much faster from the surgery. There have been no recorded ill effects from this type of surgery. Veterinarians, animal behaviorists, and pet owners alike have noticed fewer behavior problems, weight problems, and medical problems in dogs and cats that have been spayed/neutered early.

Space in this clinic is limited and will fill up fast. If you have a new puppy or kitten in your family between the ages of 2 to 5 months, please call the Animal Care Center (931-967-6345) and schedule this very important procedure. Spaying and Neutering Saves Lives.
